Rockhurst men post convincing 3-1 victory

Box Score The Rockhurst men scored two goals in the first six minutes of the second half on the way to a 3-1 victory over Illinois Springfield Sunday on Senior Day at Bourke Field.

The No. 1-ranked Hawks remain in first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 10-1-1 record, holding a one-game lead over Missouri-St. Louis.

Gianluca Bottoni gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead with a 12-yard shot in the 47th minute. Brian O'Neal came back four minutes later with a touch shot in front of the goal off a cross from Michael Panarisi. Kaleb Jackson capped the scoring with his ninth goal of the season in the 84th minute on a chip shot from eight yards out over the keeper.

The Hawks finished with 24 shots and 13 shots on goal. Mitch Moncada led Rockhurst with five shots and three shots on goal. Bottoni and Jackson each posted two shots.

Rockhurst (12-1-2 overall) will host Drury on Friday, October 21.
