Box Score Fifth-ranked Rockhurst defeated Fort Hays State in penalty kicks, 4-1, in the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals Sunday at Bourke Field to advance to the national semifinals in Pensacola, Fla., where the Hawks will meet 17th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona on December 3.
Midwest Region champion Rockhurst (18-1-3) and Central Region champion Fort Hays State (13-5-2) battled to a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods. Rockhurst made all four of its penalty kicks.

Fort Hays State took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute on a 16-yard shot by David Lucio. Rockhurst tied the score 15 seconds later on an eight-yard shot by
Claudio Romano.
Rockhurst outshot the Tigers 20-14. Fort Hays State keeper Michael Yantz made five saves, while Feldmann stopped two shots.
