Missouri Southern scored 24 points off turnovers on the way to a 69-40 victory over Rockhurst in the Fairfield Inn/Pizza Hut Classic Saturday night in Joplin, Mo.

Southern overcame an early first-half deficit to take a 35-17 halftime lead. The Lions opened the second half on a 25-8 run to take a 60-25 lead with 8:22 left in the game.

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with nine points. Lauren Meyers added eight points. Jillian Myers collected three steals, while Haleigh Cindrich posted three blocked shots. The Hawks shot 29.3 percent from the field (12-of-41) and 88.2 percent from the foul line (15-of-17).

Rockhurst (1-1) will play at Missouri Western on Thursday.
