Late run leads Saint Joseph's past Rockhurst

Box Score Saint Joseph's won the rebound battle by seven and committed eight fewer turnovers to pull away for a 76-67 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Rensselaer, Ind.

The Hawks allowed 23 second-chance points as Saint Joseph's collected 17 offensive rebounds. The Pumas also scored 23 points off 22 Rockhurst turnovers.

An 18-6 run by Saint Joseph's gave the Pumas a 66-53 lead with two minutes left in the game. Saint Joseph's scored its last 10 points at the foul line as the Pumas made 29-of-38 free throws for the game.

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 15 points and three steals. Lauren Meyers and Becca Strobbe both finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Kendall Hart added 10 points and seven rebounds. Taylor Skala fouled out with eight points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Rockhurst shot 50 percent from the field in the first half to take a 31-28 halftime lead. Strobbe made all four of her shots to pace the Hawks with nine points in the first half.

The Hawks, 5-8 overall and 0-5 in the GLVC, play at Drury on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:45 p.m.
