Hawks win ticket to NCAA final four in Georgia

Paolo Scoppola scored the winning goal for the Hawks.
Box Score No. 14 Rockhurst upset No. 1- ranked Lindenwood 1-0 behind a first-half goal from Paolo Scoppola Sunday at RU's Bourke Field to earn a ticket to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer national semifinals.

Third-seeded Rockhurst, 17-3-3, will meet Southern New Hampshire in the NCAA semifinals on Dec. 5 in Evans, Ga. Top-seeded Lindenwood ends the season with an 18-1-3 record.

Scoppola scored at the 20:45 mark on a 16-yard shot that hit the right post and went in off the left post. The game-winning goal was set up off a throw-in from defender Oussie Gueye.

Lindenwood outshot Rockhurst 11-6. The Lions' Aris Nukic had four shots to lead all players. Scoppola and Nick McDonald led the Hawks with two shots apiece. Rockhurst keeper Ryan Bass and Lindenwood keeper Fermin Hughes both posted three saves.
