Box Score The Rockhurst men's soccer team survived playing the final 40 minutes a man down to settle for a 1-1 tie with Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday in Somers, Wis. The Hawks are now tied for first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 9-1-2 record.
Senior forward
Nick McDonald was issued a red card in the 71st minute. The Hawks shut down Parkside with only 10 players over the final 20 minutes of regulation and the two 10-minute overtime periods.
Freshman Mitchell Moncada scored in the fifth minute to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Moncada's fifth goal of the season came on a shot just inside the box, assisted by
Sean Verbanic and
Paolo Scoppola. Parkside tied the score on a free kick in the 43rd minute.
Rockhurst outshot Parkside 17-10. Senior keeper
Ryan Bass finished with three saves.
The Hawks, 10-2-2 overall, return home to host co-GLVC leader Indianapolis on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
