Rockhurst pounds out 24 shots in 2-1 loss at home

Mark Magee scored his eighth goal of the season in the second half.
Box Score Rockhurst pounded out 24 shots, but could only find the nets once in falling to unranked Missouri-St. Louis 2-1 Sunday at RU's Bourke Field. The loss leaves the eighth-ranked Hawks tied for first place in the GLVC with an 8-1-1 record.

Down 2-0 at halftime, Rockhurst dominated the second half while outshooting the Tritons 14-1. Mark Magee scored in the 80th minute to cut UMSL's lead in half. Magee's eighth goal of the season came on an 18-yard shot inside the right post. Paolo Scoppola assisted on the goal.

UMSL's Jon Huelsman knocked in a pair of long shots from 25 and 20 yards six minutes apart in the first half. He finished with all four of the Tritons' shots.

Scoppola led the Hawks with eight shots. Sean Verbanic and Nick McDonald added three shots apiece. Magee and Oussie Gueye each had two shots. The Hawks received 24 fouls and six yellow cards in the physical battle.

The Hawks, 9-2-1 overall, next plays at Lewis on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
