Cam McCulley begins his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Rockhurst University Men’s Lacrosse Program. McCulley’s on field duties consist of working with the Hawks goalies and running the substitution box. During McCulley’s tenure coaching he has helped Rockhurst current Senior keeper Alex Pfeil become a 2x All-RMAC selection.
In the 2018 season McCulley was a part of a Hawks staff that lead Rockhurst to a season ending national ranking in all three national polls. The Hawks finished 17th in the Herosport.com poll, 18th in the US Lacrosse/NIKE poll and 20th in the USILA Coaches Poll.
Prior to joining the Rockhurst staff, McCulley coached high school lacrosse in Kansas City for four years. He spent two years with the Shawnee Mission East Lancers and two years with The Pembroke Hill School. At East, McCulley was part of a staff that included current Rockhurst head coach Kevin Kelley. The SME Lancers captured two championships during McCulley’s tenure – an LAKS State Championship in 2011 and the 1st LAKC Metro championship in 2012.
In addition to coaching at Rockhurst, McCulley currently runs Team KC – a local club program in the KC Metro area with a focus on improving lacrosse and helping high-school players potentially move on to the collegiate level.
Lastly, McCulley wears dual hats at Rockhurst University, also coaching the goalies for Molly McCourt and the Hawks Women’s Lacrosse program.
McCulley graduated from Rockhurst High School in 2005, where he played four years of lacrosse for the Hawklets. He then attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a human biology degree in 2010. At KU McCulley played three years of lacrosse in the MCLA and two years of club hockey for the Jayhawks. An avid Star Wars fan, he also stays active in the lacrosse community by stringing sticks, giving private lessons, and coaching camps and clinics for youth players.
