Dick Diener

Dick Diener, a highly successful high school coach in the state of Wisconsin for over 25 years, is in his seventh year as assistant coach at Rockhurst. The father of Rockhurst head coach Drew Diener, Dick spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Cardinal Stritch University. He helped the Wolves to an NAIA Division II National Championship, six regular season conference championships and six consecutive national tournament appearances.

Dick began his coaching career at Colfax High School where Diener coached football, baseball and basketball. After short stints at Conant High School, in Hoffman Estates, Ill., Wisconsin-Stout, and Marian College, where he coached basketball, he returned to Fond du Lac as the head basketball coach. He coached at Fond du Lac High School from 1984 to 2006.

During his career he won 12 conference championships, 14 regional championships, seven sectional championships and made seven trips to the state tournament. Dick won the state title in 1978 with Colfax and took second two times with Fond du Lac in 1987 and 2002. In 2007, Dick was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Dick and his wife Sara have three sons: Derek, Drew and Drake, and nine grandchildren.
