Rockhurst sweeps Jewell on Senior Day

Emily Berry combined for five hits and five RBI to lead Rockhurst to a pair of wins over William Jewell on Senior Day Saturday at Loyola Park.

Rockhurst has now won seven in a row, tying their longest winning streak of the season, and has won nine of its last 11.

Taylor Sedam and Claire Long combined for four hits and five RBI to lead the Hawks to a 6-3 win over William Jewell in game one. Berry led RU in game two by going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a triple, four RBI and three runs scored to lift the Hawks to a 12-4 win in six innings.

Game 1: RU 6, WJC 3
RU recorded four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.
  • Sedam and Long both went 2-for-3, as Sedam recorded three RBI and Long recorded two. Long collected her fifth home run of the season.
  • Berry was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
  • Sedam had a double and a stolen base.
  • Avery Huffman (14-8) picked up a complete game, allowing two earned runs on four hits and struck out 12 batters.

Rockhurst scored one in the first, five in the second, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth.
