A kill by Aron DeRoy capped a 7-1 run that ended the fifth set 15-7 and gave Rockhurst a five-set win over Maryville on Friday in St. Louis, Missouri.
With Friday's win, the Hawks (17-10, 10-1 GLVC) tied Maryville for first place in the conference standings and ended the Saints' 15-match winning streak.
RU is also on a seven-match win streak of their own and are winners of 13 of 14.
The Saints took the first set, 25-21. Rockhurst won the next two sets, 26-24 and 25-18 while Maryville took the fourth set, 25-20.
Tyler Zippay notched 50 assists. When he dished his 28th assist of the match, he notched his 1000th career college assist.
Lucas Tran (22) and Shay Spadaro (15) combined for 37 kills. Spadaro led the Hawks in service aces (four) and digs (13).
Quentin Huhman tallied 10 digs and nine kills. DeRoy recorded a team-leading seven blocks. Wesley Yusk had six blocks.
As a team, the Hawks had 61 kills, eight service aces, 13 team blocks, 56 assists and 48 digs.
The Hawks face Maryville on Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Louis, Missouri.
