No. 19 Hawks close regular season with 84-75 win

Four players scored in double figures to lead No. 19 Rockhurst to an 84-75 win over Illinois Springfield Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House to close out the regular season.

The Hawks finished the regular season on an 11-game winning streak, their longest since 1978. The GLVC regular season champions are also winners of 15 of 16 and are 15-2 so far in 2026. RU will enter next week's GLVC Tournament in St. Louis as the top seed with a 17-3 conference record.

The Hawks began the game a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-4 from three that helped Rockhurst take an early 18-4 lead at the 14:45 mark. Springfield used a 20-6 lead to tie the game at 24 with 8:54 to go and took a 34-33 lead at the half. 

Rockhurst started the second half on a 17-6 run to take a 50-39 lead with 14:32 to go. The Hawks led by six or more the rest of the game. 

Jaylen Wesley led all scorers with 23 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three steals. Drenin Dinkins collected 18 points, two rebounds and five assists.

Jack Scott had 17 points and four rebounds. Micah Deaver tallied 11 points, three rebounds and four assists. Jaden Flournoy recorded eight points and eight rebounds. Dillon Mong scored seven points.

Wesley, Dinkins, Flournoy, Scott, Tyler DeGroote, Davit Abuladze, Landon Eiland and student manager Priscilla Villarreal were recognized in a Senior Day pre-game ceremony. 

Rockhurst shot 51 percent (26-of-51) from the floor, 50 percent from three (11-of-22) and 95.5 percent (21-of-22) from the free-throw line.
