Hawks win two at Top Gun Midwest Classic

Rockhurst Softball picked up wins against Nebraska-Kearney and Minnesota State Mankato on the first day of the Top Gun Midwest College Classic Friday in Shawnee, Kansas. The Hawks are now on a season-high four-game winning streak.

Game 1: Rockhurst 3, Nebraska-Kearney 1
The Hawks collected runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings. Game 2: Rockhurst 10, Minnesota State Mankato, 2 (5 inn.)
With the Hawks up 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth, a two-RBI single by Lester to the right side ended the game.
  • Lester, Reeves, Sedam and Berry combined for 10 hits. Lester, Berry and Sedam also combined for nine RBI.
  • Sedam connected on her first home run as a Hawk in the fourth.
  • Reeves collected two doubles, while Jazmyne Moreno, Reeves and Sedam combined for six runs scored.
  • Madeline McCall (3-1) picked up her third win the season, striking out four batters in five innings on 77 pitches.
Rockhurst (6-5) resumes play in the Top Gun Midwest College Classic Saturday when they face Pittsburg State on Saturday at 2:40 p.m.
