Hawks collect pair of wins over Newman

Madeline McCall and Avery Huffman both pitched complete game shutouts to lead Rockhurst to a pair of wins against Newman on Tuesday in Wichita, Kansas.

Game 1: Rockhurst 9, Newman 0 (5 inn.)
Rockhurst scored all nine of their runs in the top of the first.
  • Emily Berry was 3-for-3 with two RBI, a double and a run scored.
  • Claire Long was 2-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.
  • McCall allowed two hits with six strikeouts on 60 pitches. 
Game Two: Rockhurst 7, Newman 0
The Hawks scored singles runs in the first, second and fourth. Rockhurst also scored four in the third. 
  • Long went 2-for-2 with a double, home run and four RBI.
  • Sedam, Lester, Pugh and Moreno each collected two hits.
  • Fulk, Sedam and Moreno collected an RBI apiece. Sedam and Pugh each recorded a stolen base.
  • Huffman allowed just one hit with seven strikeouts on 96 pitches.
