Rockhurst freshman goalkeeper Luke Strueby has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced Monday (Oct. 12).

Strueby continued his impressive freshman campaign, recording 12 saves while allowing just one goal across 180 minutes of action against two GLVC opponents last week.

The Lenexa, Kansas, native delivered another outstanding performance Wednesday (Oct. 7) against No. 11 Drury in Springfield, Missouri. Strueby made nine saves to help the Hawks earn a 0-0 draw against the nationally ranked Panthers, recording his second consecutive shutout.

Strueby followed that performance with three saves Saturday (Oct. 10) against Missouri-St. Louis, allowing just one goal in a tightly contested 1-0 road loss.

Across the two matches, Strueby faced 31 shots and posted a .923 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average while playing every minute in goal for the Hawks.

The freshman has now allowed just one goal over his last three matches, a stretch that includes a nine-save shutout victory over conference-leading Maryville, a scoreless draw against No. 11 Drury and Saturday's contest at UMSL.

A Business Administration major, Strueby earns his second career GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honor after receiving his first award on Oct. 5. He becomes a back-to-back recipient of the conference's weekly defensive honor, continuing his strong start to his collegiate career in goal for Rockhurst.
