The Rockhurst women's lacrosse team fell to 21st-ranked Grand Valley State, 9-4, in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional Thursday at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Hawks (13-5) grabbed an early 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Kylee Pickens. Mallory Griffiths gave Rockhurst a 2-1 lead on a pass from Rhea Spiers with 4:40 left in the first quarter.

Grand Valley scored five unanswered goals to take a 6-2 halftime lead. Kaylee Lary and Pickens scored goals for the Hawks in the second half.

• Pickens led the Hawks with two goals, four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Page Yehling posted four draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
• Lary added one goal, one ground ball and one caused turnover.
• Mae Beins finished with 13 saves and two ground balls.
