Hawks fall in NCAA second round to No. 10 GVSU

Grand Valley State posted a 4-0 victory over Rockhurst in the second round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Midwest Regional Saturday in Allendale, Michigan.

The 10th-ranked Lakers (18-2) will advance to the NCAA Round of 16 in Altamonte Springs, Florida on May 20. The 43rd-ranked Hawks end their season with a 15-7 record.

Grand Valley State scored a point with wins in No. 2 and 3 doubles. The Lakers collected wins in No. 1, 3 and 4 singles.

Semyon Tsyrenov fell to 44th-ranked Denys Zamaraiev in No. 1 singles, 6-2 and 6-3. Creed Skinner and Josef Truhlar lost in two sets in No. 3 and 4 singles.

Louis Keiner was unable to finish in No. 2 singles while leading 6-2 and 4-3. Alex Tikhonov led 6-4 and 5-2 when his No. 5 singles match was called. Diego Schtulmann's No. 6 match was unfinished while tied 1-1 in the third set.
