Trio receive major GLVC postseason honors

Rockhurst's trio of sophomore attacker Jonah McConnell, junior goalkeeper Brock Ollila, and freshman midfielder Nolan Hartl have all earned major postseason honors for the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Lacrosse season, the league office announced on Wednesday.
 
McConnell was named Offensive Player of the Year, Ollila garnered Goalkeeper of the Year, and Hartl was tabbed Freshman of the Year. In total, 52 student-athletes claimed All-Conference honors, while six were chosen as GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honorees for the sport and University of Indianapolis was the team sportsmanship award winner. 

The All-Conference awards are nominated and voted on by league coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own players.

Offensive Player of the Year: Jonah McConnell, Sophomore, Attacker, Rockhurst
  • Claims first Offensive Player of the Year laurel for Rockhurst.
  • Led league in five GLVC games for goals (18), goals per game (3.6), points (29), points per game (5.8), shots (60), and shots per game (12.0).
    • Landed second in assists (11) and assists per game (2.2).
  • Paced conference in overall games for goals (46), goals per game (3.54), and points per game (4.85)
    • Finished third in points (63) and fourth in assists per game (1.31).
  • Started all 13 games for the Hawks.
  • Named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week on Mar. 24 and Apr. 14.
  • Earns spot on All-GLVC First Team. 
Goalkeeper of the Year: Brock Ollila, Junior, Rockhurst
  • Garners first Goalkeeper of the Year honor for Rockhurst.
  • Finished second in league contests for save percentage (.580), while also ranking third in saves (65) and saves per game (13.0)
  • Landed third in overall games for saves (167), saves per game (12.85), and save percentage (.557).
  • Started all 13 games for the Hawks.
  • Named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week on Mar. 10 and Apr. 7.
  • Claims spot on All-GLVC First Team.
Freshman of the Year: Nolan Hartl, Midfielder, Rockhurst
  • Claims second-straight Freshman of the Year honor for Rockhurst after Jonah McConnell won Co-Freshman of the Year in 2024.
  • Was top-10 in GLVC matches for goals per game (1.60), points per game (2.40), and shots per game (6.40)
  • Placed 10th in overall shots per game (5.08), along with contributing 16 goals, 13 assists, and nine ground balls.
  • Appeared in all 13 games for the Hawks, starting seven.
  • Named to All-GLVC Second Team.
Maryville led all league programs with five first-team choices, while Indianapolis closely followed with four selections. Lewis and Rockhurst each had three players appear on the First Team.

Joining McConnell and Ollila are the First Team is senior defender Matthew Kallberg, who leads the team with 30 caused turnovers.

Four Hawks received Second Team All-GLVC honors: junior midfielder Lars Yarkosky, junior short-stick midfielder Avery Moody, senior short-stick midfielder Bjorn Anderson, and Nolan Hartl.

In addition, Rockhurst earned four honorable mention selections: junior attacker Tyler Smith, sophomore midfielder Adam Husaby, sophomore defender Connor Falkner, and junior specialist Carson Bradshaw.
 
The league also recognized six student-athletes for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. Matthew Kallberg is Rockhurst's team recipient. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced in May.
