Claney selected to play in NCAA East Regional

Grace Claney leads the Hawks with a 79.1 stroke average
Rockhurst senior Grace Claney has been selected to play as an individual at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship on May 5-7 at The Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Michigan.

Claney, a senior from St. Louis, Missouri, is the third Rockhurst female golfer to earn a berth in NCAA post-season play. Katie O'Donnell in 2002 and Carmen Titus to in 2009 were the first two RU women to earn NCAA invites.

The East Regional will feature 18 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams. All participants will compete in 54 holes of competition. The top two individuals from a non-advancing team at the regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships May 13-17 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.

Claney leads the Hawks with a 79.1 scoring average. She tied for 23rd place at the GLVC Championship in Coal Valley, Illinois, averaging 81.0 shots per round over 54 holes.

She posted four top 10 finishes, highlighted by medalist honors at the Sand Creek Intercollegiate in Wichita, Kansas, and a second-place finish at the Bearcat Dual Gender in Caseyville, Illinois.
