Braden's two-hit shutout leads Hawks to sweep at UMSL

Riley Braden's two-hit shutout gave the Hawks a 3-0 win in game two of a doubleheader sweep against Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday. The Hawks won 7-2 in game one, moving to 6-10 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.

Game 2: Rockhurst 3, UMSL 0
An RBI single by Eva Fulk broke a scoreless tie in the sixth, giving Rockhurst a 1-0 lead. McKenna Lester added an RBI single and Emily Berry recorded an RBI double that pushed the Hawks' lead to 3-0.

Fulk led the Hawks with two hits and two stolen bases. Kerstyn Finch and Jayla Pierce collected doubles, while Aaliyah Delgado, Jazmyne Moreno and Mya Bristow also recorded singles.

Braden's two-hit shutout moved her to 2-1 on the year. She also posted seven strikeouts.

Game 1: Rockhurst 7, UMSL 2
The Hawks scored two runs in the second ona Bristow two-run home run to take a 2-0 lead. RBI singles by Pierce, Lily Hance and Claire Tipton and an RBI double by Berry extended the Rockhurst lead to 6-0 in the third.

The Tritons scored two in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Hawks' lead to 6-2. Tipton's second RBI single pushed the Hawks' lead to 7-2. 

Four Hawks recorded two or more hits. Berry led the Hawks with three doubles. Bristow, Fulk and Tipton had two hits apiece. Tipton. Finch, Hance and Pierce each collected one hit. The Hawks finished with 12 hits.

Madeline McCall (3-5) picked up her second win in the past three games, allowing two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts in 4.0 innings. 

Avery Huffman pitched the last three innings without giving up a run on three hits with three strikeouts, recording her first save of the season.

Up Next
The Hawks host the first home series at Loyola Park against Indianapolis at noon on Saturday.
