Rockhurst rallies for two wins over Drury

Late rallies lifted Rockhurst to a doubleheader sweep over Drury Saturday at Loyola Park. The Hawks won the first game 8-2 behind a five-run fifth inning and scored three runs in the sixth to post a 6-5 win in the second game.

Avery Garmon and Drew Cornelison each drove in three runs in Game One. Garmon hit a three-run triple in the fifth. Cornelison homered in the fourth, doubled home a run in the fifth and added an RBI single in the sixth.

Jake Canent (3-1) held Drury to two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Brendan Rodis got the final five outs to pick up his third save of the season.

In Game Two, the Hawks rallied from a 5-3 deficit to score three runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Cole Wagner and two-run single by Andrew Loeffelman.

Rodis (2-0) relieved starter Gavyn Dockery in the sixth inning to get the win. Brandon Hebrank pitched the seventh to get his second save.

The Hawks (12-5, 2-1 GLVC) close out their four-game series with Drury at 1 p.m. Sunday.
