Hawks split two matches on Saturday

Rockhurst Men's Volleyball split their two matches on Saturday in Buffalo, New York. The Hawks defeated D'Youville in four sets and fell to Daemen in four sets.

The Hawks took the first set 25-20 and the second set, 25-21. D'Youville won the third set, 21-25, but Rockhurst closed out the match by winning the fourth set, 25-16.

Shay Spadaro led the Hawks with 16 kills and added 11 digs, two assists, a service ace and three blocks. Nathan Jacques recorded 12 kills, two assists, seven digs and one block.

Tyler Zippay led the team with 35 assists and had four kills, a service ace, seven digs and one block. Tyler Bittel collected four blocks with six kills and two digs.

Daemen 3, Rockhurst 1
Daemen took the first two sets, 25-12 and 25-17. After the score was tied 4-4 early in the third set, the Hawks used a 5-1 run to take a 9-5 lead. Rockhurst kept the lead during the rest of the set, as their largest lead was 17-12. The Wildcats cut the Rockhurst lead to 20-19, but the Hawks held on win 25-22.

Daemen won the fourth set 25-14 to secure the match.

Spadaro led Rockhurst with 19 kills and a block. Zippay had a team-leading 31 assists and a service ace. Aron DeRoy had two blocks while Beau Cecil had eight digs to lead the Hawks.
