Men drop opener in overtime to No. 12 Saints

Box Score The Rockhurst men's lacrosse team rallied in the final seconds to force overtime before falling to 12th-ranked Maryville, 14-13, in their home opener Saturday at Bourke Field.

Sophomore Jonah McConnell scored his fourth goal of the game with 2.1 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 13-all. The Hawks (1-1) outscored the Saints, 5-2, in the fourth period.

Maryville scored the winning goal with 50 seconds left in the first overtime. The Saints (1-1) outshot Rockhurst, 49-37. Both teams had three shots in overtime.

McConnell led the Hawks with 13 shots and nine shots on goal.
Tyler Smith tallied three goals and two assists.
Carson Bradshaw won nine-of-18 faceoffs and posted eight ground balls.
Lars Yarkosky collected two goals and one assist.
