Rockhurst rallies for 7-6 win over Central Missouri

Rockhurst scored three runs in the seventh inning to rally for a 7-6 victory over Central Missouri on Friday in the Top Gun Midwest College Classic in Shawnee, Kansas.

McKenna Lester singled with two outs in the seventh, which led to the tying and go-ahead runs. Lester's single to left scored one run. The tying run proceeded to score on a throwing error by the UCM catcher into left field. Lester also came around to score on the throw from the outfield to the catcher.

Junior transfer Claire Tipton led the Hawks with two home runs and three RBI. She hit a solo home run in the second and connected on a two-run homer in the third.

Lester finished with two RBI singles. Eva Fulk posted a single and a double. Avery Huffman went the distance to win her first game of the season.

Rockhurst fell to Pittsburg State, 8-4, Friday night in Shawnee, The Hawks cut PSU's to 6-4 in the fourth. The Gorillas added a two-run home run in the seventh. Tipton posted a pair of doubles.

The Hawks (2-6) play Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western on Saturday in Shawnee, Kansas.
