Men split two matches in Nebraska

The Rockhurst men's tennis team defeated Colorado Mesa, 4-1, on Friday and fell to Nebraska-Kearney, 5-2, Saturday at the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center in Kearney, Nebraska.

Semyon Tsyrenov won his No. 1 singles match, 6-4 and 6-3, and teamed up with Creed Skinner to win No. 2 doubles, 6-4, against Colorado Mesa.

Louis Keiner won his No. 2 singles in two sets and Skinner won in No. 4 singles in a third set tie-breaker. Keiner and Alex Tikhonov won their No. 1 doubles match, 6-3.

In the Kearney match, Tsyrenov won in two sets, 6-4 and 6-3. Tsyrenov and Skinner won their No. 2 doubles match, 6-2. Dylan Rainwater won in No. 6 singles when his opponent retired in the second set.

The Hawks (2-3) will host Newman on Friday at the Northland Racquet Club.
