Hawks drop pair of games in Oklahoma

Rockhurst Softball opened the season with two losses in Edmond, Oklahoma on Monday. The Hawks fell to No. 13 Central Oklahoma, 11-0 and No. 8 Rogers State, 11-1.

Game One: Central Oklahoma 11, Rockhurst, 0 (five inn.)
Eva Fulk, McKenna Lester and Claire Tipton each recorded their first hit as a Hawk.
  • Central Oklahoma scored 11 runs in the third inning. 
  • Fulk not only recorded her first hit as a Hawk but also collected her first double and stolen base as a Hawk.
  • Avery Huffman (0-1) tallied a pair of strikeouts.
  • Kylie Jones-Placensia pitched the first 1.1 innings in her college career and recorded her first career collegiate strikeout.
Game Two: Rogers State 11, Rockhurst 1 (five inn.)
Fulk, Kerstyn Finch and Emily Berry collected four combined hits for the Hawks. Fulk had her first two-hit game as a Hawk and Finch recorded an RBI single.
  • After taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Rogers State scored three in the third.
  • In the bottom of the third, Fulk recorded her second double and stolen base in as many games to set up Finch's RBI single.
  • Madeline McCall (0-1) recorded her first three strikeouts as a Hawk.
