Hawks end season with NCAA third-round loss

Fort Hays State scored two goals in the second half to end Rockhurst's run in the NCAA Men's Soccer Championships Sunday in Hays, Kansas. The 2-0 loss to the fourth-ranked Tigers in the Super Region 3 third round ends the 10th-ranked Hawks' season with a 12-5-4 record.

Rockhurst and Fort Hays State battled to a scoreless tie in the first half while combining for seven shots and two corner kicks.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the 68th minute on a 12-yard shot by freshman forward Marcus Dalseide. Fort Hays State scored five minutes later on a 10-yard shot in traffic by sophomore defender Mario Leal Vales in the 73rd minute.

Rockhurst finished with six shots (two on goal). The Hawks had four shots in the second half. Fort Hays posted 11 shots (four on goal).

Freshman Nicolas Schrag led the Hawks with two shots (one on goal in the 88th minute). Kaden Cripe had a shot on goal in the 37th minute. Stefano Camerlengo made two saves (both in the second half).

Fort Hays State (19-0-3) will host Rogers State in the Super Region 3 title game on Sunday, Dec. 7.
