The Rockhurst women's volleyball team faces two conference foes on the road this weekend. On Friday, Rockhurst plays at Quincy at 6 p.m. before going to Illinois Springfield on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Last weekend, Rockhurst (10-5) defeated both Drury and Southwest Baptist in three sets, moving their conference record to 3-0. Rockhurst is in sole possession of second place in the GLVC heading into this weekend.
Sarah Pyle was named GLVC/Athletic Solutions Offensive Player of the Week. She registered 57 kills (5.18/set) and 61.5 points (5.59/set) in 11 sets and recorded a .336 hitting percentage.
Pyle also earned her 1,000th career kill, becoming the 11th Rockhurst women's volleyball player to reach 1,000 kills in school history.
Quincy (12-3, 3-1 GLVC) defeated McKendree in three sets last Friday but fell to UMSL in five sets last Saturday. Rockhurst is 18-4 all-time against Quincy and won both matchups last year, including a five-set victory at the GLVC Tournament semifinals in Williamsville, Illinois.
Illinois Springfield (6-8, 0-4 GLVC) fell to Missouri-St. Louis in three sets last Friday and in four sets to McKendree last Sunday. The Prairie Stars face William Jewell on Friday before their matchup with Rockhurst.
The Hawks are undefeated against Illinois Springfield, holding a 20-0 mark all-time against the Prairie Stars. Last season, Rockhurst won in three sets at Mason-Halpin Field House.
