Lewis rallies late to edge Hawks in overtime

Box Score The Rockhurst men's lacrosse team fell in overtime, 14-13, to Lewis University Saturday in Romeoville, Illinois.

The Flyers (11-4, 5-1 GLVC) won the opening faceoff in overtime and scored the winning goal in 36 seconds to clinch the top seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament.

Lewis rallied from 13-9 deficit to score four goals in less than three minutes. The Flyers tied the game with 19 seconds left in regulation.

Rockhurst took a 12-7 lead with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter on a goal by Luke Jones. Jonah McConnell's goal at the 4:40 mark gave the Hawks a 13-9 lead.

The Hawks (10-4, 4-2 GLVC) will meet Maryville in the GLVC Tournament semifinals on Thursday at Lewis.

Linus Toward led the Hawks with four goals on 12 shots and one assist.
McConnell posted two goals, one assist and two ground balls.
Ricky Bloom scored two goals on two shots.
Alec Heflin tallied three assists and two ground balls.
