Hawks end weekend with 5-1 win over Drury

Freshman Avery Garmon posted four hits and drove in three runs to lead Rockhurst to a 5-1 victory over Drury in the final game of a four-game series Sunday at Loyola Park.

Garmon gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead with a two-run single in the first inning and added a run-scoring single in the third.

Drew Cornelison finished with three hits, led by an RBI triple in the third. Michael Laudando doubled home a run in the third.

Freshman Brendan Rodis (3-2) allowed one run on seven hits with six strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Jake Canent got the last seven outs with five strikeouts to collect his fifth save of the season.

Drury rallied for a 3-2 win in the first game of the series Friday night. The Panthers swept the Hawks by identical 5-2 scores on Saturday.

The Hawks (24-17, 15-13 GLVC) host Northwest Missouri State Tuesday night.
