Rockhurst settles for softball split at Drury

Rockhurst scored four runs in the third inning to rally for a 6-4 victory over Drury in the first game of a GLVC softball doubleheader Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.

Jayla Pierce hit a two-run single and Cheyenne Minnick added an RBI single to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead in the third.

Emilee Farnan and Kerstyn Finch gave Rockhurst a 6-3 lead with run-scoring singles in the sixth. Finch, Minnick and Maya Gallagher led the Hawks with two hits apiece.

Avery Huffman allowed four runs on six hits over 7.0 innings.

Drury rallied to edge the Hawks, 10-9, in the second game. The Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh after the Hawks scored four runs in the sixth.

Gallagher and Pierce hit solo home runs. Lauren Good collected two of RU's seven hits.

The Hawks (15-21, 10-12 GLVC) play at Southwest Baptist on Sunday afternoon.
