Hawks post 6-1 victory over Washburn

Five pitchers combined to hold Washburn to one run on seven hits and Andrew Loeffelman hit a three-run home run to lead Rockhurst to a 6-1 win over the Ichabods Tuesday night at Loyola Park.

The Hawks posted nine hits in the first six innings. Matthew Brimacombe, Avery Garmon and Cole Wagner each had two hits.

Rockhurst scored in the first on an RBI groundout by Loeffelman. Auggie Viles made it 2-0 with an RBI groundout in the fourth.

Loeffelman cleared the left-field fence with two men on in the fifth. Patrick Wind added a run-scoring single in the sixth.

Jackson Dearing threw two scoreless innings to collect his third win of the season. Ryan Joyner shut down Washburn on four hits over 3.0 innings.

The Hawks (23-14, 14-10 GLVC) return to conference play on Friday night against Drury.
