Women suffer close road setbacks

The Rockhurst women's tennis team opened conference play with a pair of close setbacks on the road last weekend, falling at Drury 4-3 on Friday and at Southwest Baptist 5-2 on Saturday.

Ella Coleman won her No. 1 singles match at Drury, 7-6, 6-1, while Sofia Valdespino fell in three sets in No. 2 singles. Dani Lentisco and Maria Baez won in straight sets in No. 5 and 6 singles at Drury. Lentisco and Baez teamed up to win in No. 3 doubles at Drury.

Zuzanna Szmyd captured her No. 4 singles match in three sets at SBU. Lentisco was a two-set winner in No. 5 singles. Coleman and Valdespino both lost in three sets in No. 1 and 2 singles.

The Hawks (11-6, 0-2 GLVC) host Quincy on Friday.
