Rockhurst scored six runs in the sixth inning to rally for an 8-5 victory over Illinois Springfield in the second game of a GLVC softball doubleheader Sunday at Loyola Park.

The Hawks opened the sixth with four consecutive singles and a two-run double by Kerstyn Finch to take a 6-5 lead. Maya Gallagher drove in an insurance run and scored on a wild pitch to give Rockhurst a three-run lead.

Rockhurst entered the fifth inning trailing 5-0. Gallagher and Emily Berry collected RBI singles to cut UIS's lead to 5-2.

Cheyenne Minnick led the Hawks with three hits. Finch tallied two hits and drove in two runs. Gallagher added two RBIs.

Anna Stephen (3-4) held the Prairie Stars scoreless on one hit over the final 2.2 innings.

Springfield scored two runs in the sixth to win the first game, 5-3. The Hawks tied the score at 3-3 on a two-run home run by Gallagher in the fourth.

Berry posted two of the Hawks' seven hits. Jayla Pierce hit a solo homer in the second.

Avery Huffman (7-10) allowed four earned runs on four hits over 7.0 innings.

The Hawks (14-20, 9-11 GLVC) play at Drury on Saturday afternoon.
