Softball drops pair at home to Missouri S&T

Missouri S&T scored two runs in the seventh inning to rally for a 6-5 win over Rockhurst in the second game of a GLVC softball doubleheader Friday at Loyola Park.

The Hawks took a 5-4 lead in the sixth on run-scoring singles by Jayla Pierce and Lilly Spring. The Miners retaliated in the top of the seventh with the aid of two errors.

Maya Gallagher and Emily Berry led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Berry collected an RBI single in the first and Gallagher hit a solo home run in the fourth. Riley McGovern added an RBI double in the first.

The Miners won the first game, 5-1. S&T scored two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
 
McGovern led the Hawks with two hits. Emilee Farnan had an RBI pinch-hit single in the seven. Avery Huffman (4-8) allowed three earned runs on four hits over 7.0 innings.
