Flyers hit the boards in win over Hawks

The Rockhurst women ran into a hot-shooting and physical Lewis team in falling to the Flyers, 80-55, Thursday night in Romeoville, Illinois.

The Flyers jumped out to a 40-25 halftime lead while dominating the boards, 28-12. Lewis shot 51.6 percent from the field and outrebounded the Hawks, 24-11, in the second half.

Macie Conway led the Hawks with 14 points on five-of-10 shooting. Keegan Sullivan tallied 12 points and four rebounds. Ali Kamies and Ella Campbell scored 12 of their combined 14 points in the second half.

Rockhurst (13-10, 10-9 GLVC) shot 33.9 percent from the field (21-of-62) and 30.8 percent from behind the 3-point line (8-of-26).

Lewis (17-8, 16-3 GLVC) made 30-of-62 field goals (48.4 percent) and 12-of-16 from the foul line (75.0 percent). Grace Hilber led the Flyers with 24 points.

The Hawks play at Indianapolis on Saturday, Feb. 24.
