Outside shooting carries Hawks past SBU

Outside shooting carried the Rockhurst women to a 78-66 victory over Southwest Baptist Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks tied a season-high by connecting on 13 three-pointers. Rockhurst outscored the Bearcats 24-10 to take a 57-46 lead while sinking five 3-pointers in the third quarter.

Ali Kamies led the Hawks with 18 points on six-of-12 shooting. The sophomore guard also collected six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Macie Conway scored 17 points while hitting five-of-nine 3-pointers. Keegan Sullivan tallied 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Rebeca Garcia posted nine points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Ella Campbell scored nine points on three 3-pointers.

Rockhurst (12-9, 9-8 GLVC) shot 35.1 percent from the field (26-of-74) and 81.3 percent from the foul line (13-of-16).

SBU (9-13, 5-11 GLVC) made 21-of-66 field goals (31.8 percent) and 20-of-24 from the foul line (83.3 percent). Tori Hamilton led the Bearcats with 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Hawks play at William Jewell on Saturday, Feb. 17.
