The Rockhurst men begin a four-game homestand at Mason-Halpin Field House, with the first three taking place this week. Rockhurst will face McKendree on Monday at 7:30 p.m., William Jewell on Thursday at 7:30 p..m as part of the KC Crown rivalry and will finish the week against Kansas Christian on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Hawks (4-2, 1-0 GLVC) had one game last week, a 90-77 victory over Truman State last Tuesday evening in Kirksville, Missouri. For the second straight game, four Hawks scored in double figures, including two who scored 20 points or more.
Jesse White led the Hawks with 27 points (an NCAA career-high). Brian Hawthorne finished with 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
Daniel Carr scored 18 points and recorded nine rebounds, while Nick Arensberg tallied 14 points.
McKendree (4-3, 1-0 GLVC) defeated Maryville, 74-66, last Saturday. The Bearcats come into Monday's contest averaging 71.3 points per game with 46.2 percent shooting from the field.
Dating back to 2014, McKendree leads the all-time series, 7-6, and are on a six-game winning streak against Rockhurst. Most recently, the Hawks fell 85-81 to the Bearcats on Nov. 30, 2023, in Lebanon, Illinois.
William Jewell (3-3, 0-0 GLVC) fell 78-77 to Missouri Western last Tuesday. The Cardinals will face Illinois Springfield on Monday to begin conference play before facing Rockhurst on Thursday.
Rockhurst holds a 90-68 lead in the all-time series. Jewell is on a seven-game winning streak against Rockhurst. On Feb. 17, 2024, the Hawks fell 82-50 to William Jewell in their most recent contest.
Kansas Christian (2-4) defeated Hesston College, 85-70, last Saturday. The Falcons will face Barclay on Tuesday before their matchup against the Hawks on Saturday.
Saturday's upcoming contest between the Hawks and Falcons will be just the second time the two teams have faced each other. The only game between Rockhurst and Kansas Christian took place on Jan. 8, 2019, when the Hawks won 115-76 at Mason-Halpin Field House.
