Hawks drop conference opener at Truman

Three starters combined for 55 points to lead Truman State to a conference-opening 82-64 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Kirksville, Missouri.

The Bulldogs used a 10-0 run in the first quarter to take a 45-41 lead into halftime. Truman outscored the Hawks 24-11 in the third period to take a 69-52 lead into the final 10 minutes.

Rebeca Garcia led the Hawks with a career-high 19 points on six-of-10 shooting. She was a perfect seven-of-seven at the foul line and collected nine rebounds.

Keegan Sullivan posted 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Chloe Frank scored 12 points on four-of-six 3-pointers.

Rockhurst shot 29.4 percent (20-of-68) from the floor and 94.7 percent (18-of-19) from the foul line. Truman outrebounded the Hawks, 43-37.
