Women fall behind early in loss to Bearcats

The Rockhurst women fell behind early in dropping their second game of the season to 15th-ranked Northwest Missouri State, 66-51, Thursday on the first day of the Gorilla/Bearcat Classic at Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium.

Northwest Missouri jumped out to a 27-14 halftime lead and took a 23-point lead, 53-30, in the fourth period. Rockhurst ended the game on a 21-13 run with Keegan Sullivan scoring 11 points in less than six minutes.

Sullivan led the Hawks with 19 points on eight-of-16 field goal shooting. She also canned seven-of-eight free throws and corralled a game-high 13 rebounds.

Macie Conway connected on five-of-six free throws and finished with nine points. Rebeca Garcia posted eight points, five rebounds and two blocks. Chloe Frank added seven points on three-of-six shooting off the bench.

Rockhurst shot 26.8 percent (15-of-56) from the floor and 76.9 percent (20-of-26) from the foul line. The Hawks made 16 of 20 free throws in the final 20 minutes.
