The Rockhurst women's basketball team will make the short drive to downtown Kansas City over the next two days for a pair of games against MIAA schools in the Bearcat/Gorilla Classic at Municipal Auditorium. The Hawks will play Northwest Missouri State at 3 p.m. Thursday and 13th-ranked Pittsburg State at 1 p.m. Friday.
The Hawks (0-1) opened the season with an 86-82 at home to Benedictine last Saturday. Junior guard
Macie Conway led the Hawks with 21 points.
Northwest Missouri (3-1) is coming off an 85-67 victory over Minnesota State on Saturday. Grad student guard Caely Kesten is averaging a team-high 17.3 points and 4.3 three-pointers per game.
The Bearcats defeated the Hawks, 80-57, at KC's Municipal Auditorium last season. Northwest leads the all-time series, 14-11.
Pittsburg State (3-1) has won its last three games. Sophomore guard Macie Mays and senior forward Karenna Gerber have combined to average 30 points per game.
The Gorillas defeated the Hawks, 83-75, on Nov. 18, 2022 at PSU. The all-time series is tied at 1-1.
