A late goal by Lizzo Rosenthal gave Rockhurst a 1-0 victory over Lewis on Sunday afternoon at Bourke Field.
The Hawks (7-4, 5-2 GLVC) have now won five in a row and posted their third-straight shutout. Rockhurst is on its longest winning streak since the end of the 2022 regular season and tied their longest shutout streak, also since the end of the 2022 regular season.
Rockhurst and Lewis (1-7, 1-5 GLVC) played to a scoreless tie in the first half.
Rosenthal's second goal of the season came in the 71st minute to the upper right of the net. Today's goal by Rosenthal was her first game-winning goal of the season. Olivia Schwarzen and Anna Lantz each picked up an assist on Rosenthal's goal.
Rockhurst took 14 shots in today's match, including six in the first half and eight in the second half. Rosenthal and Lantz each took five shots to lead the Hawks.
Taylor James recorded five saves to lead the defense. She has now pitched shutouts in three straight matches and four of her last five. James has only allowed one goal in the Hawks' last five matches.
The Hawks hit the road for their next two contests, heading to Truman State on Friday (Oct. 11) and to Quincy on Sunday (Oct. 13) with both contests kicking off at noon.
