Hawks win 3-0, extends winning streak to four

Elle Kimball, Olivia Schwarzen and Elizabeth Mertzlufft led Rockhurst to a 3-0 victory over Upper Iowa on Friday night at Bourke Field.

The Hawks (6-4, 4-2 GLVC) are now on a four-game winning streak. They have also pitched a shutout in two consecutive matches and three of their last four games.

Kimball's goal in the 17th minute was her third of the season, landing in the upper left of the net. Lizzo Rosenthal (her third of the season) and Julia Witt (her fourth of the season) both assisted on Kimball's goal.

Schwarzen extended the Rockhurst lead to 2-0 in the 71st minute after her first goal of the season landed in the upper center of the net.

In the 87th minute, Mertzlufft scored her third goal of the season, which landed in the upper right of the net. This is also her second straight match with a goal and she finished with five shots to lead the team. Schwarzen assisted on Mertzlufft's goal.

Rockhurst took 22 shots, including 14 shots in the first half and eight in the second half.

Taylor James tallied four saves to lead the Hawks and has now recorded 15 saves in her last four matches.
