Hawks post 1-0 win over William Jewell

A late Olivia Schwarzen goal in the 79th minute pushed Rockhurst to a 1-0 victory over William Jewell in a defensive battle Sunday afternoon at Bourke Field. 

Rockhurst (9-5, 7-3 GLVC) and William Jewell (3-8-2, 2-6-2 GLVC) played to a 0-0 tie in the first half. 

There was still no score through much of the second half as well, until Schwarzen's game-winning breakaway goal from eight yards away in the 79th minute. Anna Lantz provided the assist on Schwarzen's goal. 

Rockhurst took 28 shots in the match, with 14 in each half. Lantz led the team with eight shots, followed by Elle Kimball with six shots. Taylor James recorded one save for the Hawks. 

Rockhurst's next two matches are also at Bourke Field. The Hawks face 17th-ranked Drury on Friday at 5 p.m. and Southwest Baptist on Sunday at noon.
