Second-half play leads Drury past Hawks

Drury dominated the paint in the second half in posting a 77-49 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.

The Hawks jumped out to a 19-10 lead early in the second period. Drury closed the first half on a 20-11 run to tie the score at 30-30 at halftime. The Panthers held Rockhurst to four field goals in the second half.

Allison McFarren and Macie Conway each scored 10 points to lead the Hawks. Rebeca Garcia and Ali Kamies added seven points apiece.

The Hawks shot 25.9 percent from the field (14-of-54) and 84.2 percent from the foul line (16-of-19). Rockhurst scored 12 points off 17 Drury turnovers.

Drury (9-4, 4-3 GLVC) made 30-of-52 field goals (57.7 percent). Beth Matas Martin led the Panthers with 15 points.

Rockhurst (7-4, 4-3 GLVC) hosts Indianapolis on Thursday.
