Drury holds off late rally by Hawks

Drury held off a late rally by Rockhurst to post an 89-79 victory over the Hawks Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.

The Panthers took a 66-44 lead behind a 29-8 run with 8:27 left in the second half. The Hawks then outscored Drury 28-13 to pull within seven points, 79-72, at the 1:45 mark.

Timaris Brown led the Hawks with 28 points and six rebounds. Brown connected on nine-of-17 field goals and eight-of-11 free throws.

Brian Hawthorne tallied 11 points, six rebounds and three steals. Nico Felici posted 11 points and three assists. Nick Arensberg added 10 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Rockhurst shot 40.3 percent from the field (25-of-62) and made 23-of-28 free throws (82.1 percent).

Logan Applegate led Drury (8-5, 1-4 GLVC) with 18 points.
