Hawks remain unbeaten on their home floor

The Rockhurst women breezed to a 73-57 victory over Upper Iowa Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House to improve their home record to 10-0.

The Hawks (11-6, 8-5 GLVC) broke the school record for their best start at home after 10 games in the NCAA era.

Rockhurst led 24-12 after the first quarter and 42-21 at halftime. The Hawks opened the second half on a 14-2 run to take a 56-23 lead at the 4:23 mark in the third quarter.

Rebeca Garcia led the Hawks with 13 points and eight rebounds. Macie Conway scored nine of her 12 points in the second half.

Akili Felici tallied 10 points, three assists and three steals. Allison McFarren posted 10 points, three rebounds and two steals. Sophie Leinfelder added six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Hawks shot 36.7 percent from the field (22-of-60) and 80.8 percent from the foul line (21-of-26).

Upper Iowa (8-8, 5-6 GLVC) made 22-of-60 field goals (36.7 percent) and seven-of-22 from behind the 3-point line (33.3 percent). Katie Tornstrom led the Peacocks with 14 points.

Rockhurst travels to Quincy on Thursday.
