Hawks chosen third in GLVC Preseason Poll

Greta Seal was the 2022 GLVC Defensive Player of the Year.
Rockhurst finished third with 138 total points and three first-place votes in the 2023 Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Women's Soccer Poll, the league office announced on August 23.

Maryville and McKendree were picked first and second in the preseason poll that is selected by the league's head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team.

The Hawks won the GLVC regular season championship with a 10-1-1 league record last year. Rockhurst ended the 2022 season with a 11-3-3 overall record.

Greg Herdlick enters his 25th season at Rockhurst with a 250-150-45 record. He ranks 20th among active Division II women's soccer coaches in career wins.

Sophomore forward Anna Lantz, graduate student defender Greta Seal and junior midfielder Olivia Schwarzen return after being named to the All-GLVC First Team last year. Lantz was named the 2022 GLVC Freshman of the Year after leading the Hawks in goals (9), points (21) and shots (46). Seal is the reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Year. Schwarzen has scored 21 points on nine goals and three assists over the past two seasons.

The Hawks open the season on Friday, September 1 against Northern State (S.D) in St. Joseph, Missouri.
