Jewell rallies for 3-2 win over Hawks

William Jewell scored three unearned runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 3-2 victory over Rockhurst Friday night in Liberty, Missouri.

The Cardinals tied the game at 2-2 with the aid of a fielding error with the bases loaded in the eighth. Jewell scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly.

Rockhurst jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second on a sacrifice fly by Austin Murray. Mac Cross led the Hawks with two hits. Malik Stevenson reached base three times on a single and two walks.

Sawyer Allen (4-4) held Jewell to three hits and struck out four in 7.2 innings.

The Hawks (12-27, 8-13 GLVC) play a doubleheader at Jewell on Saturday.
