Rockhurst sweeps WJC in GLVC opener

The Rockhurst women's tennis team opened conference play with a 7-0 victory over William Jewell Saturday at Bennett Park in Liberty, Missouri.

Combined with the men's tennis win over Jewell, the Hawks now lead the Kansas City Crown series over Jewell by an 8-3 margin.
 
Sofia Valdespino captured her No. 1 singles match in a third set tie-breaker over Gwyn Gifford. Marina Magai, Martyna Jankowska, Dani Lentisco, Andrea Dabbah and Dina Dudic all won their singles matches in straight sets.

Valdespino and Magai teamed up for a 6-1 win in No. 1 doubles. Dabbah and Dudic won No. 3 doubles, 6-2.

The Hawks (8-7, 1-0 GLVC) also swept Baker, 7-0, on Sunday at the Plaza Tennis Center. Morgan Marshall completed the sweep with a three-set win in No. 6 singles.
